The Afghan Whigs know how to bring the drama when it comes to their music videos, and their new visual for “Lost in the Woods” delivers a dark romantic and masterful undertaking for fans. The video entirely filmed in black and white opens with a dark grim lifeless body lying in the woods. The scene continues deep within the baron woods through the eyes of a wolf. It’s the visual of the wolf that slowly breathes life into the woods.
The music builds like a crescendo as each deep note set the stage of translucent visual apathy for the lifeless body in the beginning of the video to disappear at the sight of 2 girls twirling vividly through the creases of light, giving expansion to the woods. It’s dark, ethereal and beautiful to watch. However, it’s the end of the video that takes you as the viewer is bought back to the lifeless body as if only to remind us that danger too lurks within these woods.
While The Afghan Whigs are wrapping up the final U.S. shows, you can still catch them in Austin at The Mohawk October 31, or if you’re in Europe during February, they will be 16 different chances to see them in concert.
Their new video “Lost in the Woods” is streaming now at TheAfghanWhigs.com and if you haven’t picked up their album, “Do to the Beast” make sure you check it out as well.
