Anthrax adds second show to benefit Gilda's Club NYC

In August, thrash masters Anthrax announced a very special show scheduled for Friday, Sept. 16. Set to take place at the Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, NY., the concert will serve as a benefit concert for Gilda's Club NYC - an organization founded in honor of comedienne and Saturday Night Live original cast member, Gilda Radner, who succumbed to cancer in 1989. Gilda's Club NYC's works to help support, educate, and empower both cancer patients and their families while dealing with this terrible illness.

But when tickets went on sale for the benefit performance, well, even hotcakes don't go quite this quickly. Tickets for the Sept. 16 Anthrax performance sold out in less than a minute. Fortunately, the band was able to add a second performance happening in the wee hours of the following morning.

"With [the first] show having sold out so quickly, we decided to do a second one to bring more awareness to Gilda's Club NYC," explained Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian in a press release.  "Two shows in one day - it's going to be amazing, so come on down."

Doors for the second performance open at midnight and Anthrax will take the stage at 1 a.m. early Sunday morning.  All proceeds from both performances will go to benefit Gilda's Club NYC - click here to purchase tickets for the second performance, but hurry!

And then after these special benefit shows, Anthrax will continue on with their North American tour alternating between the Special Guest slot on tour with Slayer and performing headlining dates with Death Angel as openers. While currently celebrating their 35th anniversary, Anthrax will also be performing material from their newest album, For All Kings, on tour this fall.
