Say what you will about 2016 but one of the things that went right in this calendar year is the wealth of stellar new metal music released.
And out of the plethora of both new and classic bands who put out new albums this year, three of which stand out strong - thrash masters Anthrax with their release of For All Kings in February, metalcore's Killswitch Engage with their newest, Incarnate, unleashed in March, and the dynamic metalcore unit, The Devil Wears Prada, with their newest album, Transit Blues, which hit the atmosphere in October. Each album with their own sound, style, and vibe just like the bands who produced them - and yet, still closely interwoven within the heavy metal family.
Now that the new year is upon us, the magic of these three bands and their new albums doesn't have to fade - - - as a matter of fact, it's only getting better and better in 2017 with the announcement of the "KILLTHRAX" tour. With direct support by The Devil Wears Prada, Anthrax and Killswitch Engage will all head out on a 27-date, co-headlining tour sponsored by SiriusXM. Including something for everyone on this run of dates, Killswitch Engage and Anthrax will rotate the closing slot for the tour, there will also be an appearance at the Texas Independence Festival in Austin, and each band will also headline two solo shows separate from the double billed dates.
Kicking off on Mar. 29 in Montclair, N.J. these three hard-hitting bands will snake across the U.S. and Canada before wrapping things up in Boston, MA. on May 7.
"Anthrax and Killswitch — KillThrax! Holy crap!" exclaimed Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian in a press release. "I am so excited about these upcoming shows with our old friends Killswitch Engage. Get out your pit pants and start stretching now for all the glorious action and fun!"
And Killswitch Engage vocalist, Jesse Leach, is also pretty excited about the forthcoming tour: "We are so stoked to tour with thrash legends Anthrax! We are sure this will bring a powerhouse of a live show with the combination of both bands. This is, hands down, the most excited we've been to tour alongside a band in a long while. This will be one you won't want to miss. KillThrax is coming for you!"
Tickets for the "KILLTHRAX" co-headlining tour go on sale Friday, Dec. 16 at 10 A.M. local time - click here for more information.
