Kentucky-based alt-rockers Cage the Elephant will perform at the Seven Flags Event Center in Clive on Thursday, July 14. Doors for the event will open at 7 p.m., and the music will kick off at 8 p.m. Kentucky psychedelic roots band Morning Teleportation and Illinois rockers The Orwells will open the show. General admission tickets for the concert are $35, and they may be purchased at the Seven Flags box office or online here. The event will be open to all ages.

Bowling Green natives Matt Shultz (vocals), Brad Shultz (guitar), Daniel Tichenor (bass), and Jared Champion (drums) played in a number of high school bands together before starting Cage the Elephant in 2006. The band signed with Relentless Records the following year and released their self-titled debut album in 2008. The album peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hard Rock chart and #18 on the magazine's Alternative chart while being certified gold. The debut produced the platinum-selling Top 10 smash "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" (video featured above) and the chart-topping alternative hits "In One Ear" and "Back Against the Wall."

After releasing a live EP in the spring of 2010 entitled Live at Grimey's, Cage the Elephant returned to the studios and recorded their second full-length album, Thank You, Happy Birthday, which was released in January of 2011. Their sophomore effort reached #2 on the Rock, Alternative, and Billboard 200 charts. Thank You, Happy Birthday produced another trio of hit singles, including the #1 smash "Shake Me Down." During the ensuing tour, the band recorded a live album entitled Live from the Vic in Chicago, which they released in 2012.

In 2013, Cage the Elephant dropped their third studio album, Melophobia. The album became their third straight Top 10 studio release and their first to earn them a Grammy nomination (in the "Best Alternative Music Album" category in 2015). It also earned the band two more #1 singles: "Come a Little Closer" and "Cigarette Dreams."

CtE band entered 2016 at the peak of their success. The band released their fourth studio effort, Tell Me I'm Pretty, in the waning days of 2015. Tell Me I'm Pretty reached the #3 on both the Alternative and Rock charts. So far, the album has produced two more hit singles, the chart-topping "Mess Around" and Top 10 effort "Trouble." The band is currently touring with two more members in tow, guitarist Nick Bockrath and keyboard player/guitarist Matthan Minster. Founding brothers Matt and Brad Shultz are famous for their stage-diving and crowd-surfing antics (and injuries), so if you are planning on being down front for the show, be ready to catch them.
