Circa Survive has recently announced that the band will be performing at the 2015 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, set to perform on both Sunday, April 12 and Sunday, April 19. In conjunction with performing at Coachella 2015, Circa Survive will be performing alongside major acts such as Drake, Brand New, Florence + the Machine, Joyce Manor, Touché Amoré, and more.
Circa Survive is fresh off the release of the band's 2014 album, Descensus, which was released on Nov. 24 through Sumerian Records. Accordingly, Descensus reportedly sold 19,414 copies in its first week, demonstrating that the album had surpassed first week sales numbers from Circa Survive's preceding album, Violent Waves. As well, Descensus premiered at the No. 50 spot on the Billboard charts. Descensus performed successfully on the charts, as the album also debuted at #3 on the Independent chart, as well as Top Hard Music, #4 on Alternative, #16 on Top Internet, #25 on Overall Digital, and #37 on Current 200.
When speaking with "Alt Press" about Descensus, Anthony Green, vocalist of Circa Survive, stated:
"Every song just got crazy attention put on it. We didn’t overthink things for months. We had parts worked out beforehand, but all the vocal melodies got written by me and Will over a span of eight or nine days. Some of the songs got written in the studio. The music would come in that day; a day later, there would be vocals on it, and boom—that was the meat and potatoes of a song. That’s the first time Circa have ever done that. Usually we spend months writing and demoing at the house. I would say there are only a couple songs that got sussed out musically before the [recording process]. We really went in with very little, and focused during that time we were in the studio. Will Yip’s direction and aura in the studio is unbelievable."
