Concerts and shows in Minneapolis and St. Paul for Mardi Gras 2018

There will be several opportunities to enjoy live music and concerts in Minneapolis-Saint Paul during the Mardi Gras season. Check out the great musical events in the Twin Cities, including the popular St. Paul Winter Carnival, Mardi Gras, and the German Mardi Gras called Fasching. 

St. Paul Winter Carnival
Jan. 25-Feb. 10
Rice Park, 109 4th St. W, St. Paul, MN

The St. Paul Winter Carnival is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. Most of the events will be a Rice Park, where there will be ice carvings and the centerpiece of the event, the Ice Palace. The King Boreas Grand Day Parade will be on Jan. 27 at Rice Park. Vulcan Fun Day will be a day of fun at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds on Sun. 28. The carnival will conclude on Feb. 10 with the Vulcan Victor Dance at the InterContinental Saint Paul Riverfront.

UCare Jazz in the Park

Spend an afternoon enjoying rhythm and blues music among the ice sculptures at Rice Park. UCare Jazz in the Park is one of the many festivities of the St. Paul Winter Carnival.

Happy Hour Concert: Jonathon Biss Plays Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto

 The Saint Paul Chamber Concert Hall will be an hour-long pre-concert performance with free beer courtesy of St. Paul’s Tin Whiskers Brewing. Pianist Jonathan Biss will return to the Ordway Concert Hall for Beethoven’s final piano concert, the mammoth Emperor Concerto.

Kevin Hart “The Irresponsible Tour”

Comedian Kevin Hart will bring his Irresponsible Tour to Target Center on Super Bowl weekend. Hart is an entertainer who made a name for himself in stand-up comedy and he has branched out into acting in feature films and other projects. Tickets are available on AXS

The East Side’s Got Talent: CABARET!
Feb. 2 @ 6:30 p.m.
Historic Mounds Theatre, 1029 Hudson Rd., Saint Paul, MN 55106

The annual cabaret will include a variety of musical acts, art, and a silent auction. Food and drinks will be available. Tickets will be $25 in advance or $30 at the door.

Family Day Presented by TROLLS: The Beat Goes On!

Saint Paul Family Day will be a great time to take the family to the Winter Carnival because there will be family-friendly music and performances, as well as activities. Olympic gold medalists and athletes will be at the Olympic Team USA’s Winterfest to meet the family.

Fasching at Black Forest Inn
Feb. 9-13

Fasching is the German Mardi Gras, so Black Forest Inn will feature live music, food specials, and the chance to make your own mask. On Fat Tuesday, every diner will get a Krapfen, which is a deep-fried jelly donut.

Fasching Festival in New Ulm

Celebrate German Mardi Gras, Fasching, in New Ulm, about 95 miles from the Twin Cities. There will be an afternoon of live music at the Best Western Plus ($8-10) on Feb. 10. The lineup will include Brian Brueggen & the MN Valley Dutchman and the Concord Singers.

Jax Annual Mardi Gras Brunch
Feb. 11 @ 10 a.m.

Jax Café will hold their annual Mardi Gras Brunch featuring music by the Minnesota Dixie Trio. Feast on the New Orleans style food on the buffet, such as Creole Seafood Salad, Beignets, Crawfish Ettoufee, Catfish, Cajus Ratatouille, and more. The brunch is $39.95/adults and $16.95/children 12 and under.

Fat Tuesday at Dixie’s on Grand

Dixie’s will feature music by The Swamp Kings on Fat Tuesday. The restaurant will offer New Orleans style food and drink specials, including Shrimp Boil, Shrimp & Grits, Jambalaya, Gumbo, Blackened Catfish. Hurricanes, Mardi Gras Kisses, and Abita Beers.  

Big Fat Mardi Gras Party @ NOLA

The annual Mardi Gras celebration at NOLA Bistro and bar will include live music and complimentary bites. Dress to impress and enjoy the party on Fat Tuesday at NOLA in the Maple Grove area.

Mardi Gras with Divina and the Vagabonds

Celebrate Mardi Gras with live R&B music by Divina and the Vagabonds at the New Orleans styled Vieux Carre in St. Paul. Tickets will be $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the performance.

Fat Tuesday at the Turf Club

Celebrate Fat Tuesday at the Turf Club, which will feature the Hennepin County Millionaires Club and Purple Funk. Tickets will be $5 in advance and $7 at the door. This will be a 21+ event.

Chris Young Losing Sleep Tour

 Country star Chris Young will perform his Losing Sleep Tour with Kane Brown and LANco.. Young was inducted into Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry in 2017. His hits include “Voices,” “Sober Saturday Night,” “The Man I Want To Be,” and more.  Tickets are available on AXS.

TobyMac Deep Hits Tour ‘18
Feb. 25

98.5 KTIS will present TobyMac with Danny Gokey, Mandisa, Ryan Stevenson & Finding Favour. TobyMac is a Grammy-winning Christian hip-hop artist, whose hits include"This Is Not A Test,"  “Eye On It,” and “Tonight.”  Tickets are available on AXS.

16th Annual Carnaval Brasileiro
March 3 @ 7 p.m.
Cedar Cultural Center, 416 Cedar Ave. S, Minneapolis, MN 55454

The longest running Brazilian event in the Twin Cities is the annual Carnival Brasileiro inspired by  Carnival in Brazil. Guitarist/vocalist Robert Everest and his lively 10-piece band Beira Mar Brasil will hose the Carnaval Brasileiro Masquerade Ball. The party will also include professional samba dancers Edilson Lima and Vanessa Luiz from Brazil, drummers from the Brazilian percussion ensemble Batucada Do Norte, and the Brazillian martial arts group Omulu Capoeira of Minnesota. Tickets are $22 in advance or $30 on the day of the event. 

Disney On Ice: Frozen

The family will enjoy  Disney On Ice: Frozen show at Target Center on Feb. 28-March 4. Escape in the world of fantasy while watching favorite Disney characters, including the royal sisters Anna and Elsa, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and more.  This -friendly event will be a great way to have fun with the family.
