Earlier this year, former No Doubt members Tony Kanal, Adrian Young, and Tom Dumont revealed they were moving on without frontwoman Gwen Stefani and working with AFI’s Davey Havok on a new project. Now, we finally have more information on what they’ve been working on. The name of the new collaboration is DREAMCAR. The name was revealed on their new Instagram account along with confirmation of new music coming in 2017. So far, nothing else has been revealed about the project.
When news first broke of Havok working with No Doubt members, many worried he would be replacing Stefani as the singer. In an interview with KROQ Los Angeles, he clarified this wasn’t the case at all. “I’m not singing for No Doubt,” he said. He did admit that the band “have a lot of great songs. We have songs that are fully complete. No name, but complete songs. And, it’s just a great time. It’s really fun. I don’t know what to call it. It’s great. I think people will really like it.”
It seems next year will be a busy one for Havok. Last month, it was revealed that AFI would be releasing a new album, titled AFI, on January 20, 2017. The previously teased fans of the coming announcement with cryptic audio and video clips. Along with the new record, they posted two new songs: “Snow Cats” and “White Offerings.” You can pre-order your copy of AFI here.
Earlier this year, Havok and Jade Puget released the third album, Material, under the Blaqk Audio name, their electronic outfit. You can watch the video for Blaqk Audio’s latest single “First to Love” here.
