Things were rockin’ on the Las Vegas Strip last Thursday night as The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas kicked off its annual Set Your Life to Music summer concert series. First up was X107.5’s Our Big Concert with Cage the Elephant, Dirty Heads, New Politics, Big Data and Joywave. The “Set Your Life to Music” series features a lineup of hot bands performing at The Boulevard Pool, one of the only outdoor rooftop concert venues on The Strip.
A sold out crowd turned out to see co-headliners Dirty Heads and Cage the Elephant. Opening up the show was a lineup of up-and-comers who have already arrived. American indie rockers Joywave took to the stage first before turning over the stage to friends Big Data. The electro pop band’s single “Dangerous” features Joywave and went to number one on the alternative charts last summer. Danish rockers New Politics took turns on the stage with Big Data, sandwiching their hot “Harlem”.
Finally it was time for the main event, with the first co-headliner, California reggae band Dirty Heads. The band’s unique mix of reggae, rock and ska enthralled the crowd with hits like “My Sweet Summer,” “Spread Too Thin” and “Dance All Night.” The hot May night closed out with a little garage rock courtesy of Cage the Elephant. Fans were treated to a set list that featured the hits “Back Against The Wall,” “Take It Or Leave It” and “Cigarette Dreams”.
The Set Your Life to Music series runs through September at The Boulevard Pool with shows by superstars Neon Trees with special guest Alex Winston, Alesso, Slightly Stoopid and the Last Summer On Earth Tour with Barenaked Ladies, Violent Femmes and Colin Hay.
