This annual holiday rock music event is always held at the Key Arena at the Seattle Center and for 2014, there is one hell of a music line up scheduled with Imagine Dragons, Weezer, Cage the Elephant and more!
The 22nd annual Deck the Hall Ball is being sponsored by Seattle's local radio station, 107.7 THE END (KNDD) and AEG Live and is one of the most popular holiday events in the Seattle area. This year's band lineup is going to be one of the best in Deck the Hall Ball history and showcases the enormous talent in the alternative rock music genre. Additional bands billed to play at the 2014 Deck the Hall Ball include TV On The Radio, Young The Giant, Kongos, Royal Blood and Vance Joy. The 2014 music line up comes as a result of 107.7 THE END listeners providing the radio station executives with a list of bands they wanted to see most. So the band roster is in essence a reflection of favorites of Seattle 107.7 THE END radio station listeners.
Weezer is one of the headlining bands that has been around the longest, first coming onto the rock music scene in 1992. The band just released their ninth studio album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End, on Oct. 7, 2014. Overall, Weezer has sold more than 17.5 million albums worldwide, with over 9 million being sold in the United States alone. Throughout Weezer's 20-plus-year career, the band won a Grammy Award in 2009 for the Best Short Form Music Video for the song/video "Pork and Beans," and they won two MTV Video Music Awards in 1995 in the categories of Best Alternative Video and Breakthrough Video for their hit, "Buddy Holly."
Imagine Dragons is another alternative rock band who burst onto the music scene recently in 2012. The band's debut album, Night Visions, garnered a great deal of attention, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 Chart in 2013. Billboard also named them "The Breakthrough Band of 2013," while Rolling Stone listed the band's single, "Radioactive" as the "biggest rock hit" of 2013. In the same year, MTV named Imagine Dragons 2013's "biggest breakout band." The band's debut album has already won include a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance, five Billboard Music awards, an American Music Award for Favorite Alternative Artist and a World Music Award. For 2014, Imagine Dragons was nominated for 14 Billboard Music awards, including the Milestone Award and Top Artist of the Year.
