Malynda Hale returns this Friday, June 22 with the release of her new EP entitled The One, and music fans can sample it now by playing the video above. In addition to dropping five dynamic new songs, the California-born pop artist also confirmed that she's heading out on tour this summer to bring her latest music directly to live audiences.
The One has five new songs, all of which are worth a listen. It opens with Hale's latest single "Something Worth Fighting For" and also includes "Gimme Love," "We Run" and "Chicago." The EP mixes pop sounds with serious messages; according to the EP's press release, "We Run" is about Hale's feelings regarding the Black Lives Matter movement. You can preview that powerful single here.
This is Hale's first non-single release since 2015's Pieces of Me, and her music has changed over those three years. While she's still a pop artist, she has infused the five songs on The One with new ideas and a more refined sound. Fans who enjoyed her previous album will still find much to love about the upcoming EP, but it's also clear that Hale has become more experienced, more confident and above all, even more determined to say something that matters. Each song has a meaning, and she'll be taking those messages on tour almost immediately after the release date.
Hale has booked a handful of tour dates in support of her EP release. The formal record release show is Thursday, June 28 at The Sayers Club in Los Angeles, and she will play another five shows throughout the summer in Illinois, California and Wisconsin. One date to particularly note is Aug. 04, when she performs as part of Concerts in the Park at Val Verde Park in Val Verde, CA; that concert is completely free, and it's also the only other date she has lined up out west so far this year.
