There was a concert at Verizon Theater this past week that was packed to the brim with country music fans who were hungry for some Alan Jackson. Before taking the stage, the large projections displayed a beautiful tribute to the country music legend. The band he brought with him was top notch, and all of the acoustics appeared to be live, which made the concert absolutely incredible.
Alan Jackson is a legend in his own right. His latest tour, 25 Years of Keepin' It Country, stopped off in big D on March 8th, 2015. He has earned over 45 awards for his country music songs, to include his Grammy Award winning song "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)." The tribute shown at the concert captured a glimpse of Mr. Jackson's 25 years in music, and displayed it proudly for the fans.
Taking the stage was no short feat, either. The screens and the band began playing as the announcer came overhead to welcome the legend to the stage. A proud display shone behind him, as the statue of liberty rotated around the screen. Visuals at the concert were very appealing. Each song had unique displays, and coordinated with the song perfectly. In the middle of musical breaks, Mr. Jackson stunned fans by tossing t-shirts into the crowd of adoring fans. Fans began shouting and waving to get his attention for one of those special free t's.
There were some noticeable things that really added value to the concert for Mr. Jackson and his fans. First of all, his pitch is still perfect after all these years, and it is amazing to sit there and listen to him live. It sounds like it could be a recording because it is so good, but it isn't pre-recorded. There was a live fiddler who played perfectly, including really hitting the difficult annotations. A live pianist, guitarist, and drummer were on stage as well. It was a perfect show for the packed house. If you were there, then you already know you got to see an amazing show. The set list included fan favorite songs throughout the last 25 years.
