Cage the Elephant reveal new summer headlining tour dates

Cage the Elephant have lined up a 34-date headlining tour with Portugal. The Man. Rolling Stone reported the details of the tour, which begins on May 1 in Little Rock, Arkansas and continues through July 15. Notable venues along the way include the Shrine Auditorium in L.A., Chicago's UIC Pavilion, and NYC's Central Park Summerstage.

Tickets for the new dates go on sale on the band's website on Friday, March 18. Cage the Elephant are currently touring as part of a stellar rock package with Silversun Pickups, Foals, and Bear Hands. That run of dates ends in early April, and the new round of shows begins just a month later.

Cage the Elephant have yet to score a major crossover hit to the pop charts, but they've dominated rock radio with seven Top 5 singles over the past eight years. Their 2013 album Melophobia produced the No. 1 alternative hits “Come a Little Closer” and “Cigarette Daydreams” and earned a surprise Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album.

The group's latest effort, Tell Me I'm Pretty, was produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys and spawned another chart-topping Alternative single, “Mess Around.” Vocalist Matt Shultz said in a recent interview, “I think Dan brought a lot to the recording process... He has a super strong grasp of tones and textures and how to make those things work together. He’s really great too at toning things down, but in a way that makes the song more impactful, creating more space in a track.”
