We’re now less than a month away from country music’s biggest night, the 49th annual CMA Awards. Always one of the biggest and best annual celebrations of country music, the CMA’s are also heavy live performances and this year is shaping up to be another memorable evening.
Eric Church -- who is nominated for multiple awards including the night’s top prize, Entertainer of the Year -- is set to open the show alongside second-generation country music legend Hank Williams Jr. The duo are slated to set the tone with their debut of Williams’ version of “Are You Ready For The Country,” the Neil Young classic that was later a big hit for Waylon Jennings.
Producers have also announced that one of 2015’s breakout stars, Thomas Rhett, will perform alongside the popular alternative rock band Fall Out Boy. Rhett, who is a frontrunner for New Artist of the Year award, covers a lot of ground on his sophomore album Tangled Up, so the collaboration makes sense, as unlikely as it sounds.
The show’s producers have promised to reveal more performances each Wednesday leading up the the CMA Awards on November 4.
