Eric Church and Hank Williams Jr. will open the CMA Awards together

Eric Church and Hank Williams Jr. will be taking the stage to kick off the 2015 CMA Awards. Rolling Stone shared the news that the pair will be joining up to start up the nights performances when they team up on Neil Young's "Are You Ready for the Country" which is a song that became a hit in 1976 for Waylon Jennings. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley will join up once again as co-hosts when the “The 49th Annual CMA Awards” happen at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 4, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. EST on ABC.

Church could have a very big night in store for him during the "49th Annual CMA Awards" where he leads the pack tied up with Little Big Town with five nominations a piece for the show. The trophies that Church could walk away with includes the Entertainer of the Year where he is competing against Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert and Luke Bryan for the award shows top trophy. The nomination for the Entertainer of the Year marks Church's first shot at winning the title in his career.

Church may also earn the Male Vocalist of the Year trophy during the CMA awards where he faces Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Chris Stapleton and goes up once again against Bryan. "Talladega" is in the running for the title of Single of the Year where Church is competing against Little Big Town with "Girl Crush," Chesney's "American Kids," Lee Brice for "I Don't Dance" and "Take Your Time" from Sam Hunt.

Church made his way into the Song of the Year category with his hit song "Like A Wrecking Ball" which he co-wrote with Casey Beathard. Church is facing off against "Like a Cowboy," "American Kids," "Take Your Time" and "Girl Crush" for the Song of the Year win. Church also scored a nomination in the Musical Event of the Year category for teaming up with Keith Urban on their hit song "Raise 'Em Up."
