Eric Church is heading into the 2016 ACM Awards with one win under his belt already and still has many more chances to add to his number of wins on the big night. Taste of Country spread the news that Church scored his early ACM Awards win in the Video Of The Year category for “Mr. Misunderstood,” which faced Dierks Bentley with “Riser,” Little Big Town for “Girl Crush,” Kacey Musgraves with “Biscuits,” and Cam for “Burning House.”
Florida Georgia Line was also revealed as early ACM Awards winners by winning the title of the ACM Vocal Duo of the Year. The new win gives the duo the title for the third year in a row. The guys faced Dan + Shay, Maddie & Tae, Joey + Rory, and Brothers Osborne for their latest win. Chris Stapleton has also already been named an ACM Awards winner for New Male Artist of the Year, scoring his win over Brett Eldredge, Chase Rice, Thomas Rhett, and Chris Janson.
The New Female Artist of the Year win went to Kelsea Ballerini who was up against RaeLynn, Mickey Guyton, and Cam. Old Dominion also pulled in an early win for the 2016 ACM Awards by scoring the title for New Duo/Group of the Year where they faced off with Brothers Osborne, Parmalee, Maddie & Tae and A Thousand Horses.
Church is up for the main event with a nomination in the Entertainer of the Year category and has a shot at the Male Vocalist of the Year win. Church could also take home the trophy for Album of the Year with Mr. Misunderstood and he also received a nomination with Keith Urban in the Vocal Event Of The Year category for their collaboration on “Raise 'Em Up.”
Church, Florida Georgia Line, Old Dominion and Ballerini will all be hitting the stage as performers when the ACM Awards take place on April 3, 2016, at 8:00 P.M. EST in Las Vegas which you can catch on CBS. The ACM Awards co-hosts Luke Bryan and Bentley will also be performing during the show along with Stapleton, Cam, Little Big Town, Hunt, Urban, and Aldean just to name a few of the stars taking part in the show.
