Eric Church's New Year's resolution is more music, more shows and more satisfying fans. Following the success of his outstanding "Outsiders World" Tour, the sharp-shooting outlaw has announced a slew of dates for the second leg of the tour, slated to launch in early January and continue well into 2015. The "Talledega" singer will kick off the new venture in New Orleans on Jan. 8, and it will ultimately wrap a month later at the SAP Center in San Jose, California
"We come from bars and clubs, and I've missed that. That intimacy is what you always try to grab," Church says about the tour. "The bigger the room, the smaller you want that room to feel. You used to be able to fit everybody at our shows in those in-stage pits. That was the entire crowd."
He adds, "I want everybody in that place to feel like they were there, to feel like they were in that small room."
Of course, his 2014 isn't nearly over, as he is set to perform (for the first time in eight years) on the iconic Madison Square Garden stage on Oct. 17. Church first performed there, following his debut album, Sinners Like Me (and as his first single "How Bout You" was at radio), in Oct. 2006—a performance which forever changed his career. Since then, he has become one of country's boldest performers, perfectly melding Southern rock with traditional country leanings, which is probably why most of his projects receive critical acclaim. He plays by no one's rules but his own. Ahead of this must-see performance, Church will perform his new single on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Wed. (Oct. 15).
For this year's 48th Annual CMA Awards (to be co-hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley for the seventh-year running), Church garnered multiple nominations, including for Male Vocalist and Album Of The Year (for his genre-bending The Outsiders disc). The project has already spawned numerous hits, including his No. 1 hit "Give Me Back My Hometown" (a track which subsequently landed in the Song and Single Of The Year fields).
