If you're a fan of thrash and metal then chances are you're simply giddy at the array of exceptional new music that's been released in the last several months - - - and the tours that have followed are just icing on an already amazing cake. And yet, 2016 is simply getting better and better in regards to the music being released and even more high-power tours...
On September 11, 2015 Slayer released Repentless, their twelfth studio album and highest charting debut in the band's history. Then on February 26 of this year, Anthrax unleashed their eleventh studio effort, For All Kings, which soared up music charts all over the planet. And as if all that new and insanely excellent thrash metal music isn't exciting enough, just a couple short weeks from now, Death Angel will be releasing their next, and eighth, studio album, The Evil Divide.
Still, things are getting even more exciting for thrash metal lovers by the moment as Slayer has just announced what's guaranteed to be a killer autumn tour with special guests Anthrax and Death Angel. It's almost too much to process - three first-rate bands who have each made heavy metal history - all together on one tour, but it is happening, and it's going to be amazing.
The seven-week North American trek will kick off in Cleveland, OH. on September 9 and will hit both major and secondary markets across the continent through October 27, and with the promise that more dates will be announced at a later time. "It's always super fun for us to tour with Anthrax," exclaimed Slayer guitarist, Kerry King, in a press release, "Frank [Bello] is one of my best friends in the biz! Put that together with Death Angel, and fans will probably see the best package this year. See you there!"
"We are very excited to tour again with our fellow 'Kings,' Slayer, on a thrash/metal extravaganza," said Anthrax drummer, Charlie Benante. "Two of the Big Four - now that's a night of metal for all the Kings and Queens!"
And Mark Osegueda, Death Angel's vocalist added: "We are thrilled and honored to be part of this amazing North American touring package. Slayer/Anthrax/Death Angel - it just looks, sounds and feels right. This will be Death Angel's first-ever tour with Slayer, something we've hungered for our entire career. And we will bring that hunger to the stage every night, so get there early because this will be a show not to be missed; from the first note of the night until the very last! Metal is alive, hungry, thriving, and coming for you!"
If you're near one of the cities that this tour is going to be demolishing with pure, solid metal then you need to get yourself to that show - the general ticket sale begins on Friday, May 13 at 10:00 A.M. local time.
And stay tuned to AXS.com for more additional tour dates and more information as it becomes available.
