If there’s one thing country musicians know well, it's the inside of the tour buses and airplanes that take them to various stages across the country. On Monday, Feb. 22, Cassadee Pope and Chris Young combined performance and travel to the delight of lucky travelers. Southwest Airlines celebrated its 30th anniversary of flying to Tennessee at Nashville's BNA Airport with a day full of festivities. The event kicked off with “in-hangar” performances by Maren Morris (who performed her current single "My Church") and A Thousand Horses, followed by the unveiling the “Tennessee One,” a 737 with a new paint job of the Tennessee flag.

Guests then boarded the plane for a quick jaunt over to Memphis and got some above-average in-flight entertainment. Proving it’s all about the journey, Pope and Young brought music to the sky as part of Southwest’s Live at 35 music program. The two made the most of their limited space (the galley) and instruments (two guitars and mics) to perform "I'm Comin' Over" and “Think of You,” Young’s quickly-rising current single featuring Pope.

In an interview with Southwest filmed while seated on the plane, Pope and Young shared their excitement about the event. "When I found we were going to be able to do a "Live at 35" I went [online] and watched a bunch of the previous [performances] and [this time] they really stepped it up, we actually had some PA and two guitar players," says Young. "[It] was interesting, trying to get everybody situated on the front of a plane! But it was a lot of fun. Everybody getting off the plane [in Memphis] said really good things."

And this wasn't the first, nor will it be the last, flight for Young on the airlines. He says, "I don't know how many Southwest flights I've been on for radio tours and everything over the years."

The two were delighted to be included in the aviation festivities and were sure to share the experience with fans. Pope posted an Instagram of her wearing a Southwest heart pin and wrote, “Thank you @southwestair for letting @chrisyoungmusic and I help you celebrate 30 years of service in Tennessee! We had a blast hanging out and singing for you. Thanks for the heart.” Young posted a photo of the pair in front of the shiny TN plane and captioned it: “Awesome time today with @southwestair And thanks to@cassadeepope for joining to sing our top 20 (this week) song "Think Of You"!"

Pope and Young have spent a lot of time together over the last year. Besides serving as duet partner, Pope is also the opening act on Young’s I’m Comin’ Over tour, which runs through April 16.
