Legendary New Zealand comedy duo the Flight of the Conchords are back, they’re hitting the road, and they’re bringing their friends.
The Conchords – aka Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie – have announced their full supporting cast for their North American tour, which begins in Port Chester, New York on June 9th and doesn’t wind down until July 27th in LA. Eugene Mirman, Arj Barker, David O’Dougherty, Demetri Martin, Michael Che, John Hodgeman, and Kurt Braunholer will all be making appearances along the way – though not all performers are on every bill. Ticket buyers should check their specific dates to see which performers will be at their show.
Barker and Mirman are both veterans of the much beloved Flight of the Conchords HBO show as well as being hugely popular stand-up comedians, both in the US and abroad. In addition to his role as the Conchords’ friend “Dave,” Barker is known as one of the most popular stand-up comedians down under and is one of the creators of The Marijuana-logues. Mirman, renowned in the comedy community for his brilliant absurdity and distinct voice, has gone on to appear in Delocated, Bob’s Burgers, and is currently on tour himself supporting his recent most recent release, I’m Sorry, You’re Welcome an audacious 9-disk collection of live performances and studio pieces that showcase one of the most unique minds in comedy.
The other names on the bill, while not cast members from the show, are a hand-picked group of some of the most prolific and respected performers working today. Hodgeman and Che have both been featured on the Daily Show, and Che is currently known as one of the co-anchors for "Weekend Update" on Saturday Night Live. Braunohler worked with Mirman on Burgers and was the host and creator of the unjustly defunct Bunk. This cast of characters aren’t just dumb clowns either – Hodgeman, Martin, and O’Dougherty are all published authors, Martin and O’Dougherty are accomplished musical performers, and Martin just directed his first feature length film Dean, which is already receiving significant critical acclaim.
Highlights of the tour include June 28th at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in San Francisco, which will feature Barker, Hodgeman, and Martin, and July 20th in New York City’s Forrest Hills Stadium, where Mirman, Hodgeman, and Che will all be joining FOTC on stage for what are sure to be long-remembered nights in comedy history.
