With a thunderous new album on the cusp of release, Boston’s indie-rock heralds, Pile, is already underway with a cross-country tour, and the best is yet to come.

Out on March 3, via Exploding In Sound Records, is the fierce release You're Better Than This, the latest from the group called “the elected godfathers of the Boston DIY scene.”

Pile is well known for being a part of the burgeoning indie rock scene in one of New England’s most prominent cities. The artful shimmer of their music, and especially the latest record, is quartered by a roughly spun rasp track to track adding a bit of extra seasoning, if not making the lyrics nearly intelligible at first listen.

The quartet, called “your favorite band’s favorite band,” made up of Rick Maguire, Kriss Kuss, Matt Connery and Matt Becker, have tended to the indie-punk scene since their inception in 2009. Since then, their catalog has been met with praise as well as hordes of fans across the country, many of which will get to see them take the stage by storm as they embark on this massive undertaking.

Know them or don’t, Pile is driving on influences from all walks of life on this one, and have pulled out all the stops once again to ensure the thriving indie scene that made them lives on in the spirit of this tour. The dual brutality and chilled attitude of the record sets ablaze what we think of when we think of indie-punk.

Their next date hits the DC area at Union Arts followed by a show in Baltimore before getting back across state lines to hit Richmond, Virginia. As the train moves down the East Coast, come out for a show, and discover a band well worth the hype they’ve caught.
