At the ripe young age of 21, NYC musician, SEE, is combining a multitude of tastes that include artists Pink, Alanis Morissette, and she's even bringing a little Radiohead to the table as well. Her provocative video for her single "Potions" has hit YouTube and has people talking. The eclectic singer has worked with producer Brad Wood, famous for working with the Smashing Pumpkins and Liz Phair.
Next up SEE wants to conquer the world. AXS.com's Robert Frezza sat down with her following a live performance at Arlene's Grocery, one of many of NYC's oldest rock venues.
Robert Frezza: Where did you get the motivation to play so many different instruments at such a young age?
S: I just always wanted to play instruments. I always gravitated towards playing. I wanted to teach myself everything so I can have the full scope of how to write a song.
RF: How did you hook up with producer Brad Wood, who produced Smashing Pumpkins and Liz Phair?
S: I was so happy to work with him. One of my managers was doing A&R for Smashing Pumpkins and Brad did their record and Brad thought that we'd be a good fit.So everything worked out in the end.
RF: Your video for "Potions" is highly sexually charged. Were you happy with end product?
S: It was good process overall. It was a tough video to make. It was a tough topic to navigate since it was a bit mature. At the end I was super happy with it.
RF: Who are your influences?
S: Radiohead, Coldplay, Fleetwood Mac, Avril Lavigne, and Paramore.
RF: How far do you want to make it in the music industry?
S: The top. My goal is to make this a lifelong career.
