Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood recently picked up his first Golden Globe nomination. Greenwood snagged the nod for Best Original Score for his work on Paul Thoman Anderson’s film "Phantom Thread." The Golden Globe newcomer is up against some heavy hitters in Hans Zimmer (“Dunkirk”), John Williams (“The Post”), Alexandre Desplat (“The Shape of Water”), and Carter Burwell (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”). The Golden Globes hosted by Seth Meyers air January 7 on NBC.
As Pitchfork reported, Greenwood shared some of the sheet music for Phantom Thread--which stars Daniel Day-Lewis and comes out Christmas Day--in October via his Twitter account. Greenwood and Paul Thomas Anderson have teamed up three times in the past with "Phantom Thread" marking their fourth collaboration. Greenwood’s Radiohead bandmate Thom Yorke recently composed the score for Italian horror film “Suspiria” and Greenwood and Yorke worked with Hans Zimmer--who Greenwood is up against at the Golden Globes--on a song for the series Blue Planet II.
