Taylor Swift hit an impressive new sales milestone with her critically-acclaimed sixth studio album, reputation. Per Billboard, Swift’s latest effort sold 2 million copies in the U.S. for the week ending March 15 via Nielsen Music. reputation is notably the only album released in the last two years to sell 2 million copies in America.
The album was released in November 2017 and impressively notched more than 1.2 million copies sold in its first week. Furthermore, Swift’s reputation and her friend and collaborator Ed Sheeran’s record-smashing, Grammy-winning third studio album, ÷ (Divide), were the only albums to sell over 1 million copies in the entire year of 2017.
All six of Taylor Swift’s studio albums have sold 2 million copies or more. Swift recently debuted her fourth music video from the album for “Delicate” at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards. The notably confident visual finds the “Gorgeous” singer dancing like no one is watching, without the pressure of being recognized for her megastar status.
Prior to “Delicate,” Swift dropped a fun, globe-trotting video for “End Game” featuring track collaborators Ed Sheeran and Future. Swift was nominated for six iHeartRadio Music Awards this year, including Best Lyrics and Best Music Video for reputation’s lead single, “Look What You Made Me Do.” She took home the iHeartRadio Award for Female Artist of the Year.
The last album to move over 2 million copies was Adele’s Grammy-winning third studio album, 25, which was released in 2015. 25 astoundingly sold over 2 million copies within its first three days and sold 3.38 million copies by the end of its first week. The album has sold 9.45 million copies through March 15.
