Back in 2014, the oddball comedy duo of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, professionally known as "Tim and Eric," visited Metro Detroit's Royal Oak Music Theatre and left fans clamouring for more. This summer, those fans will get their wish as the comedians will return to Royal Oak to perform in their 10th Anniversary Comedy Show on July 23.
Though the duo has been performing together for longer than 10 years, this summer's tour will mark one decade since the start of their most popular television show, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job. The group also had such hit shows as Tom Goes to the Mayor and Tim and Eric's Bedtime Stories. Tim and Eric released a statement along with the announcement of the tour to outline what the new tour will encompass, including new bits, spoofs, and old memories of the show they're best known for.
"It's been 10 years," the duo said in the statement. "We are heading out to see our chips across the USA and celebrate this incredible decade of Tim and Eric with a number of new spoofs and goofs, riffs and bits, songs and dances and hope to create memories to last a lifetime."
Alongside the tour's announcement, Tim and Eric also released a delightfully weird new video that features their traditional brand of zany editing and anti-punchline humor. Let's just say that it is much easier to watch it yourself, rather than have it described in any fashion here.
The duo will be hitting 18 locations across North America for this year's tour and once again, Detroit is lucky to be one of those stops. The tour kicks off in Portland, Maine on July 11 and concludes in Los Angeles on Aug. 9. Last time around in 2014, John C. Reilly joined the touring show as the fan-favorite Dr. Steve Brule character, though it remains to be seen whether or not Reilly or any other actors from the show will be joining this time around.
In addition to their duties with the tour, both Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim have also been involved in other projects as of late. Heidecker is also a singer/songwriter who is becoming notorious for his timely satirical songs, including once recently released about President Trump's visits to "Mar-a-Lago." Wareheim has been acting in other shows recently, including a recurring role on the hit Aziz Ansari Netflix show, Master of None.
Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job originally premiered Feb. 11, 2007 and ran for three years. Since then, the show has become a cult favorite of underground comedy fans and has been the staple of their careers.
