Bio: A$AP Mob

ASAP Mob (stylized as A$AP Mob) is an American hip hop collective formed in 2006, in Harlem, New York, by members ASAP Yams, ASAP Bari and ASAP Illz .[1] The Mob is a collective of rappers, record producers, music video directors and fashion designers, who share similar interests in music, fashion, style and art.[2] The collective mainly consists of East Coast rappers, most of whom carry the "ASAP" moniker, such as ASAP Rocky, ASAP Ferg, ASAP Twelvyy, ASAP Nast and ASAP Ant. The collective's resident record producer, ASAP Ty Beats, also carries the moniker and has produced several songs for his ASAP Mob cohorts, most notably Rocky's solo debut single "Peso".

Bio: A$AP Rocky

Born & raised in Harlem, New York, A$AP Rocky is no stranger to the cliché rap lifestyle, popularized by fellow Harlem Patriarchs from Big L & Kool Moe Dee to Ma$e, and Cam'ron. However, Rocky's entrenching yet melodic rap style has drawn more immediate comparisons to recently incarcerated Harlemite Max B.

"Rocky" the Nickname given in part, from his birth name Rakim (after the legendary NY emcee), and in part for his scrappy, yet suave persona, would quickly embrace Harlem’s diverse music lineage. Raised by his Mother & Father, Rocky was exposed to soulful records such as those from Curtis Mayfield, and Marvin Gaye, in addition to the sudden wave of 90’s “Gangsta Rap”, as well as local Harlem talent. Feeling he had played student of the rap game for long enough, a young Rocky tried his hand at penning his first verse, after hearing his older brother pound out beats on the kitchen table. Instantly recognizing the talent in his sibling, he insisted Rocky not only finish the song but start a new hobby, combining his already popular nickname with the acronym A$AP, meaning To Accumulate Status And Power (also the name of Rocky’s Crew of Harlem Based contemporaries).

Since that time music has changed drastically, but not A$AP Rocky’s ear for quality, as he began making his rounds on the local battle rap circle, and ghostwriting when the opportunity presented itself. By not limiting his musical inspirations geographically, Rocky maintains this diversity in his music today, drawing inspiration from such stark opposites as the Red Hot Chili Peppers & Hope Sandoval to Cee-Lo Green and MGMT. This diversity, evident in his viral debut “Purple Swag”, is clearly what rap fans have been craving, as the video amassed an impressive 100K+ views in a matter of days. Paying tribute to the screw legends of Texas and their infamous purple potion, but with a distinct Harlem flavor.

Rocky is avoiding hipster cliché, and the recent “swag” overload, with a more organic yet still braggadocio style, self proclaimed as Harlem's “Pretty MotherF**Ker.” Rocky’s uniquely authentic introspection, and style have many toting the youngster as NYC’s emcee to watch in the year to come. And if Rocky's initial buzz is any indication, all signs point to a rap resurrection, appropriately led by the kid named after "The God Emcee."

Bio: A$AP Ferg

Harlem Trap Lord A$AP Ferg and rising Toronto rapper Tory Lanez are set to bring their "Level Up Tour" to cities nationwide this spring. Ferg and Lanez will co-headline the dates with a special joint set trading off between their own tracks, collaborations and more.

The tour kicks off May 18th in Philadelphia, with further shows set for Austin’s Stubb’s Waller Creek Outdoor Amphitheater on May 27th, New York’s Irving Plaza on June 23rd and more. Tickets go on sale to the general public Monday, April 4th at 10:00 a.m. local time. Visit LevelUpTour.com for more information.

Ferg is currently gearing up to release his sophomore album, Always Strive and Prosper via A$AP Worldwide/Polo Grounds Music/RCA Records on April 22nd.  The highly-anticipated album will feature his current hit single, "New Level" ft. Future, "Let It Bang" ft. ScHoolBoyQ and "World Is Mine" ft. Big Sean and more.  Noisey declares "given the strength of ['Let It Bang'], you can be positive that Always Strive and Prosper is going to potentially be the best A$AP release yet."

Always Strive and Proper is the follow up to Ferg’s chart-topping 2013 release, Trap Lord, which entered at #9 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, #2 on the overall Rap Albums chart, #4 on the overall R&B Albums chart,  #5 on the Top Digital Albums chart and eventually earned Ferg the “Who New? Rookie of the Year” BET Hip Hop Award.

Lanez is fresh from a massive week at SXSW, with Hot New Hip Hop calling him “one of the highlights of the entire SXSW festival” and Billboard naming him an Artist To Watch, “L.A. Confidential,” a collaboration with Miguel, Benny Blanco and Cashmere Cat, is currently climbing radio charts nationwide—listen here.

The new track follows Lanez’ breakout single “Say It,” which peaked at #1 on Rhythmic and Urban radio charts, as well as #23 on the Billboard Hot 100. Watch the Manhattan rooftop-shot video for the original, streamed more than 39 million times to date, here.

Lanez’s debut album is set for release this year on Benny Blanco’s Mad Love imprint on Interscope Records.
