Given the nature of her music and lyrics, it wouldn’t be a surprise to learn that New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde could do a fantastic job covering songs by the likes of Etta James, Radiohead and James Blake. However, as a video posted on Nov. 8 proved, the “Royals” hitmaker is equally adept at covering material by blue-collar songsmith Bruce Springsteen.

As reported by Pitchfork, Lorde took the opportunity to cover The Boss’s “I’m On Fire” before segueing into her own “400 Lux” during a recent show in Christchurch, New Zealand. Before performing her rendition of the 1984 hit, the woman born Ella Yelich-O’Connor noted that it occupies a special place in her heart. “This is a song I love a lot,” said Lorde. “It’s a special one.”

By covering “I’m On Fire,” Lorde joins a long list of esteemed recording artists representing a range of different genres, including Johnny Cash, Kenny Chesney, Chromatics, Bats for Lashes, John Mayer, Twin Shadow, Low and AWOLNATION.

American Lorde fans wishing to experience similar magical music moments will have the opportunity to do so when the talented 21-year-old brings her current Melodrama World Tour to the United States in March 2018.
