The possibilities are endless with Halloween falling on a Saturday night but if you've procrastinated, here are some great ideas for a festive holiday.

Black Iron Tavern in River West at 401 N Milwaukee Ave holds a Villains and Heroes themed Halloween Bash that launches at 9 p.m. and features raffle prizes, costume contest, photo booth and drink specials. You might win a Black Iron Tavern gift card, group dinner or other swag. Drink specials include $5 well cocktails, $10 specialty Halloween drinks and $5 pumpkin beers and Chef Michael Taus serves a select appetizer menu from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Do dress up as your favorite hero or villain.

Newport Bar and Grill in the Southport corridor holds a Halloween costume party Saturday night with a $200 cash prize for the “Best Individual Costume” and a $500 cash prize for the “Best Group Costume”. Halloween drink specials include $4 Bud Lights, $4 Fireball shots, $5 Stoli Cocktails and $5 Bacardi Bombs. An optional $20 drink package will be available from 9 p.m. – 12 a.m.

Fish Bar will award prizes to the first group to come in dressed as a character from Gilligan’s Island on Halloween. The one dressed as Gilligan snags a dozen free pies and the Skipper gets an unlimited night of beer with your first mate at any DMK Restaurant and an Uber home. Two free movie passes and a bottle of Prosecco goes to the best Ginger costume and the Professor gets a cooking class with Chef Michael Kornick. Mary-Ann: two tickets to a Spring Farm Dinner at Fish Bar and The Millionaire AND his wife (must be a couple’s costume) get bottomless oysters and beer for two on a night of the winners' choosing. If you prefer a party with a tad more class, consider attending a Great Gatsby themed Halloween party on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Enolo Wine Café. It will open at noon and won’t shut down until 2am. Staff will be dressed in Great Gatsby themed attire, and please do don your festive Halloween costumes (they needn't be Great Gatsby inspired) and will be a costume contest running throughout the evening. Drink specials include Pumpkin Beer ($5), Vandermill Totally Roasted Cider ($6), and shots of Jameson ($5). The person taking the best selfie with the hashtag #EnoloHalloween2015 will have the chance to win a free dinner for two (value of $100). Enolo Wine Café is located at 450 N. Clark St.

Logan Square's Parts and Labor has a Halloween Movie Marathon, a compilation of Halloween movies from noon - 2 a.m. on Halloween with $3 shots of Fernet or Jameson to make the movies just a little more fun.

Another calmer yet nonetheless fun party is expected at Troquet River North, the neighborhood French bar at the corner of Clark and Huron. Wear your costume and enjoy food and drink specials as well as a DJ from 9pm-1am. The party is open to all over the age of 21.

The Whistler, a craft cocktail hideout named one of GQ’s "25 Best Cocktail Bars in America” and one of the "16 Must-Try Cocktail Destinations Around the U.S.” by Zagat, hosts a live horror movie soundtrack performance with all-new cocktails from co-beverage director, Luke Andrews. It's on Thursday, October 29 beginning at 9pm with They: Live!, a band performing live on-stage music from the horror movies of John Carpenter as well as music from Goblin, an Italian progressive band that produced the scores to ‘70s horror films including Suspiria, Deep Red, and Zombi.

Perhaps you'll be a real ghoul on Halloween, alone and holed up alone while kids ring your doorbell incessantly. A Day of the Dead outing is just what Dt. Frankenstein ordered. Get to Dia de los Muertos brunch at Kit Kat Lounge for free flowing libations and comfort food. On Sunday, November 1 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. you can lift your blood-shot eyeballs and spirits at Kit Kat Lounge and Supper Club. Diva Madam X will perform live while you nosh on Chef JoAnn Witherell's comfort food brunch fare (Bacon Truffle Mac 'N Cheese; Biscuits and Gravy; Huevos Rancheros). There's a build-your-own beverage package that includes Mimosas, Bloody Martinis, Bellinis and Sangria for $14.95 per person. Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club is located at 3700 N. Halsted St.

Lots of Chicago hotel bars are getting in one the horror hotel bandwagon but the dana hotel will do it right with a nod to The Shining’s 35th film anniversary. Its transformation into The Overlook Hotel. should be spectacular and a costume party at Vertigo Sky Lounge will rock. Get decked out in your best costume (eligible to win $500 worth of prizes for best dressed) and enjoy sounds by DJ Meg, DJ Morozoff and live sax by M. Gabriel. Be prepared to get lost in a replica maze from the movie while enjoying a delicious REDRUM sangria punch. Keep an eye out for the “come play with us” twins and a “Here’s Johnny!” photo opportunity.

On Oct. 31, the Chicago Athletic Association hotel attempts to turn back the hands of time to the late 19th century with "Murder, Magic, Mystery" night sponsored in part by Revolution Brewing. The free Halloween event will begin at 8 p.m. in the hotel's second floor Drawing Room and includes tarot card readings, eerie storytelling and a free concert in the Chicago Athletic Association’s original gymnasium Stagg Court with mysterious musical acts.

You can still put a costume together for your bar hopping. Fantasy Costumes, Chicago's largest Halloween supplier, will have its doors open 24/7 through October 31, 2015!
