Livestock and horse show
It is called the Livestock Show and Rodeo, after all, so naturally, that's a huge part of the event. In fact, it's the world's largest livestock show, with over 30,000 entries with competitors from all over Texas, as well as some international ones.

Rodeo
Again, it's part of the name. In addition to the rodeo, the show also features a shootout competition. Over $2 million in prizes will be awarded to the winners, and attendees can stop by the Fan Zone to meet their favorite cowboy or cowgirl. Can't make it? Shows will be live-streamed every night, and select events will be broadcast live on TV through FOX Sports Southwest.

Family-friendly
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has plenty to do for the whole family, including kids. Attendees can enjoy the carnival, and kids can have fun at The Junction, formerly called Kids Country, with rides, games, a petting zoo, pig races, pony rides and more.

Shopping and dining
The Livestock Show and Rodeo is a huge event, and that means plenty of vendors, no matter what you're looking for, at the Lone Star Market. Foodies can take on the Gold Buckle challenge to try all eight of the show's award-winning dishes.

Nightlife
Hit the dance floor at The Hideout, the rodeo's honky-tonk from 6 p.m. until midnight, included in the price of admission. Enjoy drinks at the bar and live music, with a lineup to be announced.

Good cause
The Houston Livestock Show also works to benefit the community and has raised over $475 million and awarded over 19,000 in its 80-plus years to benefit Texas youth. More than 800 scholarships are awarded each year, and the show also awards educational grants.

Special events
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo offers different special events throughout its run, honoring certain demographics, from the armed forces to first responders and more. The show will also feature international days and events and activities for individuals with special needs.

Texas
Naturally, the Lone Star State is front and center, from the vendors to competitors to the entertainment. Texas musicians will be showcased every night, and local vendors can be found at the Lone Star Market.

Live entertainment
Between the livestock show, competitions, and concerts, the show has plenty to do and see--but you'll find other live entertainment, too. Local musicians will be showcased on the Stars Over Texas stage, and you can catch tribute bands every week on Throwback Thursday.

The lineup
As the dust of the rodeo settles, some of the biggest names in music take the spotlight, delivering unique performances on a stage like no other. HLSR has a habit of drawing in some of the biggest names in music.  Their 2018 event saw performances from Little Big Town, Blake Shelton, Kelsea Ballerini, Rascal Flatts, Cody Johnson, OneRepublic, and Brad Paisley. The 2019 lineup featured Kacey Musgraves, Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, George Strait, Cardi B, Panic! At the Disco, Camila Cabello, and more.

The 2020 bill is shaping up to be another exciting year for the event, with big names like Chance The Rapper, Lizzo, Marshmellow, Midland, Willie Nelson, Maren Morris, , Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton, NCT 127 and so many more.
