The Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL are having Valentine's Date Night on Feb. 13 when they host the Newfoundland Growlers at the Infinite Energy Arena. The Gladiators are encouraging all couples to come and watch the Gladiators in exciting hockey action the night before Valentine's Day (Tickets).
The Gladiators were involved in a blockbuster trade with the Toledo Walleye on Jan. 28. The Gladiators traded defenseman Ben Danford to the Walleye for center Daniel Leavens and defenseman Samuel Thibault. The Gladiators then traded Thibault to the Indy Fuel to complete a trade between the Gladiators and Fuel on Jan. 16.
Leavens had four goals and 15 assists for 19 points in 30 games with the Walleye. Danford had one goal and nine assists for 10 points in 24 games with the Gladiators. Thibault had eight assists in 38 games with the Walleye.
This is a great time to see the Gladiators, as they have collected at least one point in each of their last six games. They have a record of 13 wins, 19 regulation losses, six overtime losses and one shootout loss for 33 points. The Growlers have a record of 28 wins, 12 regulation losses and two overtime losses for 58 points. Newfoundland currently has the third most points in the ECHL. They only trail the Florida Everblades at 67 points and the Cincinnati Cyclones at 60 points.
Atlanta's leading scorer is Derek Nesbitt, who has 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points. Newfoundland's leading scorer is Zach O'Brien, who has 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points.
