The Los Angeles Kings will have a 1990's Throwback Night when they host the Edmonton Oilers at Staples Center on Jan. 5. Fans will have an opportunity of receiving a LA Kings fanny pack with 1990's nostalgic items if they purchase their tickets through this AXS offer.
It is fitting that the Kings are having their 1990's throwback night against the Oilers. It was the Oilers who the Kings made their biggest trade in franchise history with on Aug. 9, 1988 when they acquired Wayne Gretzky. In 1990-91, Gretzky set the Kings franchise record for most assists in a season with 122. He also led the NHL in points that season with 163. In 1991-92, Gretzky led the NHL with 90 assists. In 1993, he led the Kings to their first Stanley Cup Final in franchise history and in 1993-94, led the NHL with 92 assists and 130 points.
The Kings are also having a second promotion in their game against the Oilers -- fans will receive two 16 ounce Golden Road beers and a Los Angeles Kings custom puck bottle opener when they buy ticket here. The beer promotion is part of the Los Angeles Beer Fest Ticket Pack. It is the second of three beer fest ticket packages the Kings are offering this season. The other two are Nov. 3 against the Columbus Blue Jackets (Tickets), and on March 16 against the Florida Panthers (Tickets).
Before the Kings play the Oilers on 1990's Throwback Night on Jan. 5, the Kings also play the Oilers at the Staples Center on Nov. 25 (Tickets). That will be the second of five straight games the Kings will have against Canadian teams, as they will also host the Vancouver Canucks on Nov. 24 (Tickets), before playing in Vancouver on Nov. 27, in Edmonton on Nov. 29 and in Calgary on Nov. 30.
