The Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League will have a special bandana giveaway on Feb. 23 when they host the Colorado Eagles at the Citizens Business Bank Arena (Tickets). This special promotion is brought to you by the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley. In addition to the free bandana, there will be a special jersey auction benefiting the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley.
The Reign have won three games since Jan. 18. They beat the Iowa Wild 6-5 on Jan. 18, the Eagles 5-3 on Jan. 26 and the San Diego Gulls 6-3 on Feb. 6.
In the Reign win over the Wild, Matt Moulson and Mike Amadio had three points each. Moulson had two goals and one assist and Amadio had one goal and two assists. Other Reign players with multi-point games were Brad Morrison (one goal and one assist), Sheldon Rempal (one goal and one assist), Kyle Bauman (two assists) and Kale Clague (two assists). Amadio meanwhile scored the game-winning goal at 10:25 of the third period to break a 5-5 tie.
In the Reign win over the Eagles, Moulson and captain Brett Sutter each scored twice. Rempal and Zack Mitchell also had two points as Rempal had one goal and one assist and Mitchell had two assists.
In the Reign win over the Gulls, Philippe Maillet led Ontario in scoring with four points as he had four assists. Carl Grundstrom had two goals and one assist for three points, while Moulson, Matt Roy and Kyle Bauman all had one goal and one assist for two points.
The Reign currently have a record of 14 wins, 23 regulation losses, four overtime losses and two shootout losses for 34 points. The Eagles have a record of 23 wins, 17 regulation losses, three overtime losses and one shootout loss for 50 points.
The Reign leading scorer is Moulson, who has 21 goals and 19 assists for 40 points. The Eagles leading scorer is Andrew Agozzino, who has 20 goals and 24 assists for 44 points.
In Reign transaction news, left winger Carl Grundstrom has joined the Reign since his rights were traded from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 28. Grundstrom has two goals and three assists for five points in four games with the Reign after having 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points in 42 games with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Grundstrom was traded from the Maple Leafs to the Kings with Sean Durzi and Toronto's first round draft pick in the 2019 National Hockey League Entry Draft for defenseman Jake Muzzin.
In other Kings moves that have impacted the Reign, the Kings called up center Michael Amadio from the Reign on Jan. 31 and sent down right winger Matt Luff to the Reign on Feb. 8. Amadio has two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 14 games with the Reign and two goals and four assists for six points in 32 games with the Kings. Luff has seven goals and three assists for 10 points in 30 games with the Kings and six goals and six assists for 12 points in 12 games with the Reign.
In Reign promotional news, the hockey team has partnered with the Ontario Fire Department and the Chaffey Joint Union High School District for a special cause. The Reign are donating $20,000 so the high schools in the district can purchase bleeding control kits. The staff members will have access to the kits and receive training from the Ontario Fire Department to help students if they experience bleeding from hemorrhaging.
