2018 CMA Awards: Chris Stapleton leads with five nominations

With five nominations, Chris Stapleton is the leading contender for the 52nd Annual Country Music Association Awards, which will be presented Nov. 14 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. ABC will have the U.S. telecast of the show, which will once again be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.

Stapleton is nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year (for From a Room: Volume 2) while his "Broken Halos" hit is up for Single of the Year and Song of the Year.

Songwriter/producer Dann Huff has four nominations, including Musician of the Year (Guitar). As a producer, he is nominated for Single of the Year (for Midland's “Drinkin’ Problem”), and Huff picked up two Album of the Year nominations: one for Keith Urban's Graffiti U, and the other for Thomas Rhett's Life Changes.

Meanwhile, several artists have three nominations each: Jason AldeanDierks Bentley, Dan + Shay, Florida Georgia Line, Chris Janson, Miranda Lambert, Midland, Rhett and Urban.

"American Idol" judge Luke Bryan, Dan + Shay and Sugarland appeared on ABC’s "Good Morning America" on Aug. 28 to announce some of the nominations from Luke’s 32 Bridge Food + Drink, Bryan’s new restaurant and bar in downtown Nashville.

Performers and presenters for the 2018 CMA Awards are to be announced.
