Each of the original 12 Overwatch League teams will return for Season 2 where they will be joined by eight new competitors for the opening week on Feb. 14. Before the league returns, however, we must first take a look at the roster changes made during the off-season by one of the league’s returning teams: the New York Excelsior.

The New York Excelsior demonstrated their strength in the Overwatch League’s inaugural season after they became the first team to place in all four stages’ playoffs. Although they received first in the overall season, the team fell short of fan expectations in the league’s playoffs, securing third place. Hungry for redemption, the Excelsior have made a few roster changes as the team gears up for Season 2.

Following the end of the inaugural season, the team parted ways with tank player Jun-hwa “Janus” Song at the end of August. The rest of the team’s original cast will return to play for the Excelsior once more, joined by Hwang “F0w3R” Yeon-oh and Jeong “Nenne” Yeon-kwan who both signed with the New York-based team during the off-season.

Nenne and Fl0w3R will join the team’s DPS line, which also features Park “Saebyeolbe" Jong-ryeol and Kim “Libero” Hae-seong. Bang “JJoNak” Seong-hyun, Hong “ArK” Yeon-jun, and Jung “Anamo” Tae-sung will make up the team’s support trio, and Kim “Mano” Dong-gyu and Kim “MekO” Tae-hong will fill the role of the team’s tanks. Lastly, Kim “Pine” Do-hyeon will serve as the team’s flex player, filling in whichever role his team needs.
