Bellator's Long Island debut was a massive success, as thousands turned out to watch Russian legend Fedor Emelianenko fight former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen in the main event of Bellator 208. AXS was on hand for the long-awaited Oct. 13 fight night at Nassau Coliseum. Here's a look at the top five moments from the show:
1. Fedor punches his ticket to a world title fight.
What did Emelianenko's shocking finish of Sonnen mean in the grand scheme of things? First and foremost, it propelled "The Last Emperor" into a heavyweight title fight against Ryan Bader. That scrap will go down early next year in California.
2. Benson Henderson takes a dig at Khabib and McGregor.
The only thing more surprising than Henderson turning back Father Time for a vintage performance against Saad Awad? His post-fight speech, which included verbal jabs at UFC royalty. Henderson made it quite clear that he has no love for professional MMA fighters inciting post-fight brawls.
3. A-list celebs -- 50 Cent, Paige VanZant and more -- turn out in droves.
Of all the celebs on hand for Bellator 208, 50 Cent scored the biggest fan reaction of the night. Other notable high-profile guests in attendance were Royce Gracie, Paige VanZant, Herschel Walker and Aljamain Sterling.
4. Dennis Buzukja picks up hometown victory.
It doesn't get much better than a Long Island kid winning in front of his hometown fans. Buzukja did just that, as the Serra-Longo prospect delivered a first-round knockout.
5. Cheick Kongo puts heavyweight division on notice.
Kongo wasn't selected for Bellator's Grand Prix for a world title shot, but all that did was light a fire under him. At Bellator 208, he put the rest of the heavyweight division on notice with a highlight-reel knockout of Timothy Johnson. He'll be on the short list of top contenders for a shot at the title once the smoke clears from Fedor vs. Bader.
