The Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience is the Colorado organization’s premier event and a great way to put an exclamation point on an amazing summer. For the Labor Day Experience--taking place August 31-September 2 at Snowmass Town Park--JAS is once again bringing in some of a music’s biggest names.
While you’re probably aware of the superstar headliners--Lionel Richie, Jack Johnson and Zac Brown Band--there are some great openers for those who like to come early. Here are five must-see acts at the JAS Labor Day Experience.
1. Gary Clark Jr.
Texas bluesman and guitar slinger Gary Clark Jr. is one of the most soulful and yet incendiary artists today. His immense talent has caught the attention of blues and rock icons like the B.B. King, the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and many more. Don’t miss Gary when he performs at Snowmass Town Park on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 5:00 p.m. Click here for tickets.
2. Michael Franti & Spearhead
After headlining the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in early summer, singer-songwriter Michael Franti and his band Spearhead will return to Colorado to perform on the JAS stage. According to his website, Michael Franti & Spearhead are performing a number of songs from his upcoming album this summer. Franti plays at Snowmass Town Park on August 31. Click here for tickets.
3. The Record Company
This bluesy power trio from Los Angeles sounds more like a four or five-piece band. With rocksteady rhythms, crunchy fuzz bass, slick slide guitar The Record Company deliver a big sound. Catch them at Snowmass Town Park on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 3:00 p.m. Click here for tickets.
Canadian singer-songwriter Afie Jurvanen--otherwise known as Bahamas--is set to make his debut at the JAS Labor Day Experience. Jurvanen is currently touring around his fourth studio album Earthtones. Check him out early at Snowmass Town Park on Saturday, Sept. 1. Click here for tickets.
5. Lionel Richie
He’s one of the best selling artists of all time, a five-time Grammy winner and a recipient of the Johnny Mercer Award, the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s highest honor. The man has too many accolades to list here but one thing is sure, he’ll have you “Dancing on the Ceiling” “All Night Long.” Don't miss him at Snowmass Town Park on Friday, Aug. 31 at 8:00 p.m. Click here for tickets.
