The Denver Pop Culture Con is set to take place May 31 – June 2, 2019, at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver (Tickets) and considering that many attendees will be dressed in their cosplay finery, you truly never know who you might meet. That goes for all of the celebrities scheduled to appear too; you just might step around a corner and find yourself face to face with “Back to the Future” actor Christopher Lloyd!

Formerly known as the Denver Comic Con, the event changed its name to the Denver Pop Culture Con this year to more accurately reflect what it is all about: a weekend of family-oriented fun that’s focused on comics but that also delves into the fantasy worlds presented in books, film and television programs. With non-stop fun on tap, there are countless reasons to attend the Denver Pop Culture Con. Here though are our favorite five reasons.

5. Comics galore
How many comics will fit into a space that’s a whopping 160,000 square feet? That’s the size of the show’s Merchant Mesa, where attendees will find hundreds of booths and tables selling comics for every taste as well as all sorts of comics-related gifts and collectibles. Elsewhere in the show, more than 25 creators of comics like colorist Laura Martin and Eisner Award-winning illustrator Mark Brooks will be in attendance.

4. Celebrities
As mentioned above, kooky actor Christopher Lloyd will be in attendance. So will stars like Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum (“Smallville”), Summer Glau (“Firefly,” “Dollhouse”), Jim Beaver (“Supernatural”), Patrick Warburton (“The Tick”) and the cast of “Critical Role” to name but a few. Beyond the comics, TV and film stars, nearly 30 authors like romance author Frankie Love and Carrie Vaughan (“Martians Abroad”) will be on hand.

3. Autographs and photos
Many of the celebrity guests will be giving fans an opportunity to purchase an autograph and/or a photo with the star. As an example of what this will cost, an autograph from Lloyd is priced at $80 while a photo with him is $95, Ming-Na Wen (“Mulan”) is asking $50 per autograph and $70 per photo and Michael Rooker’s (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) signature will command $60 while a photo op will be $70. Some guests will have a limited appearance schedule; check here for details.

2. Artist Valley
Lots of Pop Culture Con attendees will be looking for specific comic book titles to fill the holes in their collection or seeking out that collectible figurine they’ve always wanted. But everyone can find a one-of-a-kind collectible in Artist Valley where nearly 400 artists and creators --- one of the largest gatherings of these talented folks in the entire country --- will have original pieces of art on display and for sale. These artists and writers will have prints for sale too and they’ll also sign autographs and pose for pictures.

1. Be a superhero
You may look silly wearing a cape and you’re probably not faster than a speeding bullet, but if you have kids, here’s your chance to be a superhero. Most fans of comic books got the bug when they were little and there’s no doubt that your kids will have a ball with the whole spectacle of Pop Culture Con. And just for the youngsters, there’ll be the PCC Kids’ Lab, a kid and teen-friendly space where kids can create, share, explore and discover in an educational setting. The young-at-heart are welcome too.
