5 things you didn't know about BTS

K-Pop group BTS have been one of the most popular acts in recent years with multiple hit singles around the world. The seven piece act is also one of few groups that can pack an arena near you without having a major hit in the States. We decided to dig up five things you might not know about this beloved outfit.

1. The group produces their own music.

Many boy bands of the past are simply known for learning cool dance moves while producers and songwriters work on their next hit single. BTS, on the other hand, wanted have a closer approach with their work. The outfit have produced and co-written nearly every song in their discography. When they're not writing their own material, they're collaborating with acts such as Thanh Bui and Primary.

2. Technically, they're not from Seoul.

While the group is based out of Seoul, not one member is from that city. Jimin and Jungkook both come from Busan, Rap Monster's hometown is Ilsan, Jin is from Anyang, V and Suga are both from Daegu and Jhope is from Gwangju.

3. They're the most dominant K-Pop act on the Billboard charts.

BTS are the first K-Pop group to have more than three releases placed in the Billboard Top 200 chart. Their first release to hit the charts was 2015's The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2, which peaked at number 171. Their latest studio album You Never Walk Alone, which was originally released in 2016 as Wings, became their fourth release to make it into the charts at number 61.

4. They became an emoji.

To have your own Twitter emjoi means you've made it in the social media circle. BTS became the first K-Pop outfit to have their own emoji in 2015. Fans uncovered these emojis by using different hashtags on the platform.

5. Trilogies are their favorite.

From "Back To The Future" to "The Lord of The Rings," trilogies have provided us with memorable moments. For BTS, trilogies are a way to express themselves musically. Their first trilogy of releases started with 2013's 2 Cool 4 Skool, which was followed by with O!RUL8,2? and 2014's Skool Luv Affair. Their next set of trilogies came with 2015's The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1, The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2, and 2016's The Most Beautiful Moment In Life: Young Forever.
