5 things you didn't know about Tiffany Young

Tiffany Young is a rising star in K-pop, but how well do you know the pop sensation? Both as a solo artist and as a member of Girls' Generation, she's wowed fans all around the world and accomplished a lot - including some things you might not know. Learn more about Tiffany Young below, then get tickets to see her live on tour here at AXS.

1) She grew up in California

Though now a major name on the K-pop scene, Young didn't move to South Korea until she was 15. She's a Korean-American who was born and raised in California. Per the Daily News, Young was born in San Francisco, California and grew up in Diamond Bar, California. Other musical artists with ties to Diamond Bar? Snoop Dogg, the legendary rapper turned TV personality, lives there. And two members of the South Korean hip-hop group 1TYM, Teddy Park and Taybin, are from that city.

2) She also has a TV hosting career

Like many musical artists, Tiffany expanded her career to include television. In 2015, the Jakarta Post reported she had become the new emcee for the Korean lifestyle and beauty program "Heart_A_Tag." Her hosting career dates back to 2007 when she co-hosted the Korean music program "Sonyeon Sonyeo Gayo Baekso" (which translates to "Boys & Girls Music Countdown") for Mnet. She's certainly used to being in front of a camera! And speaking of fame...

3) She appeared in Fame

Tiffany also has stage experience. From December 2011 to January 2012, she played the role of Carmen Diaz in the Korean production of the musical "Fame." The musical, based on the film of the same name, has been produced in more than two dozen countries since it premiered in 1988 and Carmen is one of the production's key roles. If you missed it, a cast album was released in 2011. It's Tiffany's only stage appearance to date, but hopefully not her last, as she's certainly got the talent for more work in musical theater.

4) She was the face of H&M

In 2018, fashion brand H&M selected Tiffany as the face of its fall 2018 "H&M Divided Music" campaign. She had her song "Teach You" used during the campaign, was featured in an "H&M X Music" video, and even performed at an H&M store in West Hollywood to help support the launch. While a lot of the collection sold out quickly, you can still see images on the H&M website. Tiffany's not only a talented singer, but she also has an excellent sense of style that makes her stand out in the crowded pop landscape.

5) She's already made K-pop history

Here's a mind-blowing fact: when Tiffany appeared on the red carpet at the American Music Awards last year, she made history for the K-pop genre. According to Yahoo! Music, she was the first female K-pop artist ever to walk the red carpet at the AMAs. So not only is she having her own successful career, but she's also doing things no one in her genre has ever done before. That almost certainly won't be the last time fans see Tiffany at a major American awards show, either, because the sky is the limit for this emerging star.
