If you’re a hardcore fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race, there was really only one place for you this past weekend. The South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention center should have been your paradise, your retreat, your QUEENdom. Not only was it the site of some major slayage, but HERstory was made when more than 50,000 people attended the 2018 edition of RuPaul’s DragCon, May 11-13. If you weren’t one of them, you missed out.

A family-friendly event, RuPaul’s DragCon 2018 consisted of gag-worthy performers, elite queens and over 30 Instagram-worthy photo ops, giving fans the opportunity to make lasting memories.

Here are 5 reasons why missing RuPaul’s DragCon 2018 was the biggest mistake ever:

5. Best Squirrel Friends
Any obsessed Drag Race fan knows that no episode would be the same without the esteemed panel of judges. Though Carson was missed, Michelle Visage and Ross Mathews were both in attendance. There were also several guest judges who made an appearance. Fan favorite, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman was close enough to touch - though, definitely not recommended - but he wasn’t the only one metaphorically rubbing elbows with fans. In fact, standing in line for Michelle Visage and showing your love and support by making a quick purchase would have gotten you valuable 1:1 time and a picture to treasure forever. Well worth it.

4. The Fundamentals
DragCon LA 2018 was a wealth of knowledge. If you’ve ever wondered how much thought went into an elimination, or what it was like to return to Drag Race after already being eliminated - there were panels for that. If you wanted to play the drag version of Dungeons and Dragons, or talk about drag fashion, there was a place for you. For fans who just wanted to sit in a room and hear their favorite queens talk, BenDeLaCreme, Alaska 5000, and Jinkx Monsoon were only a few of the many queens who were there to enlighten DragCon attendees.

3. Sickening Shopping Extravaganza
Shopping was a big part of this year’s event. There were over 350 exhibitor booths selling wigs, gowns, jewelry, art - you name it. Attendees gladly shed the weight of their wallets this year if it meant sashaying away with iconic Drag Race merchandise.

2. Major Slayage
There seemed to be a consensus among attendees: If you’re attending DragCon then you’re walking the runway and all eyes are on you. Fashion was elevated. Those who weren’t in drag were either in costume, dressed in their best eleganza, or knew their style game wasn’t up to par and just dressed for comfort - no shame in that. Frankie Grande was among the many celebrity attendees serving up glam at DragCon 2018. Check out the gallery of this year’s best DragCon fashions above.

1. Drag Race Royalty
The biggest regret for those who didn’t attend this year’s DragCon, would be the missed opportunity to show love to their favorite queens. Bianca Del Rio, Shangela, Alyssa Edwards, Valentina, and Alaska were only a few of the many queens whose lines had hour-long wait times. Fans flocked to see these queens and many others as well show their support for current season favorites like Miz Cracker and Aquaria. The highlight of this eleganza extravaganza was getting to meet RuPaul. That alone is a missed opportunity rare enough to leave anyone gagging.

If you weren’t able to attend DragCon 2018 in Los Angeles, the next opportunity is only a plane ride away. DragCon 2018 hits New York in September.
