A Video Game Con unites gamers in New Jersey this Saturday
Laugh and Peace

Are you a fan of video games and live in the tri-state area? Looking to celebrate your love of Super Mario and Solid Snake with fellow gamers? This Saturday, the folks at ButtonSmasher, LLC will bring A Video Game Con to Parsippany, New Jersey.

What can you expect at New Jersey's biggest video game convention? Over 100 vendors selling retro video games, tournaments, cosplay contests, panels, and a whole lot more! For those looking to compete in video game tournaments, they're holding three kinds for your choosing: Pro Fighting Game Tournaments, Casual Fighting Game Tournaments, and Retro Video Game Tournaments. KombatNetwork will be hosting the Pro Tournaments. Among the games confirmed for both Pro Fighting and Casual Fighting Game Tournaments are Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike, Ultra Street Fighter IV, and Super Smash Bros. Melee. The list of games included in the Retro Video Game Tournaments will be revealed closer to the convention. As expected, there is an entry fee to partake in the Pro Tournaments. You can view the tournament schedule here.

There will also be a video game free play section that will show off the full history of video gaming. Everything from the Phillips CD-I to the Playstation 4 will be on hand for you to play.

In the panels department, you can learn how to make music with your Game Boy, discover how to start streaming on Twitch, discuss the history of JRPGs, and find out how to launch a video game collection while in college. You can check out the full list of panels here.

A Video Game Con will also feature musical performances by Chipocrite, Kris Keyser, Montclair Gamer Symphony Orchestra, The Schwam, and 10th Dimension & Parallax.

Tickets for the event are on sale right now for $15, but that early bird price will end this Wednesday at midnight. You can purchase tickets at the door and online after the early bird sale ends for $20. Attendees under the age of 13 must have an adult with them while they're at the event. Children ages 3 and under won't need a ticket to enter.

A Video Game Con takes place at the Parsippany PAL, which is located at 33 Baldwin Rd in Parsippany. Doors open at ten a.m., and the event ends at midnight. You can follow A Video Game Con on Facebook and Twitter for any updates before and during the event.
