Adrian Beltre became the 31st player in Major League Baseball history on Sunday to record 3000 hits in his career. Beltre also becomes the first player ever to record the historic hit in a Texas Rangers uniform, and being from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, became the first player ever from the Dominican Republic to collect 3000 hits.
Beltre collected his historic hit in the Rangers' 10-6 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. Beltre's historic hit was a fourth inning double off of Orioles starting pitcher Wade Miley.
In his career, Beltre has 1111 hits with the Rangers, 949 hits with the Texas Rangers, 751 hits with the Seattle Mariners and 189 hits with the Boston Red Sox. He is one of two active players in Major League Baseball with 3000 hits. The other is Miami Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki of Aichi, Japan, who has 3,060 hits.
Suzuki is tied for 21st all time in Major League Baseball hits with Craig Biggio of the Houston Astros. When Suzuki recorded his historic hit on August 7, 2016 he became only the second Major League Baseball player ever to record 3000 hits with a triple. The other was Paul Molitor with the Minnesota Twins on September 16,. 1996. Molitor is the current manager of the Twins. Pete Rose is the all-time leader in hits with 4,256.
