Brittany Howard is venturing out beyond Alabama Shakes. Howard is releasing her first solo album, Jaime, in September and will be on the road supporting it starting in August. Listen to the album's first single "History Repeats" above, then get tickets to her first headlining tour starting June 28. Every ticket purchased for this tour comes with a CD copy of Howard's new album, Jamie.

As the lead singer of Alabama Shakes, Howard has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards and won four. The band's most recent album, Sound & Color, won Best Alternative Music Album and was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2016 Grammys. More recently, they earned a Grammy for Best American Rock Performance for their performance of the song "Killer Diller Blues" in the film "The American Epic Sessions." They're both critically acclaimed and commercially beloved; their last record also was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

But with four years since the band has released Sound & Color, it's the perfect time for Howard to set out on her journey as a solo artist. Named after her late sister, who died after a battle with cancer, Jaime is a very personal album - which is why she felt the material wouldn't work as an Alabama Shakes album. "I’m pretty candid about myself and who I am and what I believe," she said in a press release, "which is why I needed to do it on my own.”

She's laying herself bare on this record, and there's no better way to hear it than by seeing her live, where Howard will be able to engage with her fans directly and they'll be able to hear these intimate songs in person. She's lined up more than a dozen tour dates between Aug. 17 and Oct. 13, where audiences will be able to hear her like they've never heard her before. Whether you're an Alabama Shakes fan, or someone who appreciates excellent singer-songwriters, this is a fall 2019 tour that should be on every music fan's calendar, and AXS has tickets to some of its biggest shows.
