The United States won three gold medals on Saturday in track and field events with Diamond League status in Shanghai, China on Saturday. Noah Lyles of Gainesville, Florida won the gold medal in the men's 200 metres. Bershawn Jackson of Miami, Florida won the gold medal in the men's 400 metre hurdles. Sam Kendricks of Oxford, Mississippi won the gold medal in the men's pole vault. 

In the men's 200 metres, Lyles posted a winning time of 19.9 seconds. Three-time American Olympic gold medalist LaShawn Merritt of Portsmouth, Virginia won the silver medal with a time of 20.27 seconds. Adam Gemili of Great Britain won the bronze medal with a time of 20.35 seconds. 

In the men's 400 metre hurdles, Jackson won the gold medal with a time of 48.63 seconds. Lj Van Zyl of South Africa won the silver medal with a time of 49.35 seconds. Rasmus Magi of Estonia won the bronze medal with a time of 49.38 seconds.

In the men's pole vault, Kendricks, the reigning Olympic bronze medalist, won the gold medal with a jump of 5.88 metres. Renaud Lavillenie of France won the silver medal with a jump of 5.83 metres. Shawnacy Barber of Canada won the bronze medal with a jump of 5.6 metres. It was Canada's only medal in Diamond League status events in Shanghai on Saturday. The gold medals for Lyles, Jackson and Kendricks will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
