Anathema release 'Springfield' from upcoming studio album 'The Optimist'
Anathema - Springfield (from The Optimist)

Three years after the release of their critically acclaimed album Distant Satellites, British alternative rockers Anathema will return with their new record The Optimist, which is slated to drop on June 9 via Kscope. The 11 track record was produced by Tony Doogan (Mogwai, Belle & Sebastian) at Attica Audio in Donegal, Ireland and Castle Of Doom studios in Glasgow, Scotland, and it's a continuation of the band's 2001 studio album A Fine Day to Exit. After dropping a short album teaser, the record's first single "Springfield" is now available for your listening pleasure.

The Optimist can be pre-ordered over on their merch store. Some noticeable things up for grabs is a Blu-Ray DVD of the upcoming album and a special four disc set featuring the album, a DVD-V of the release, the aforementioned Blu-Ray, and a CD including three demos and three live tracks.

This fall, the band will embark on a European tour in support of the release with special guests Alcest, who are plugging their latest release Kodama. Before they can properly promote the release, they'll be busy this summer with festival appearances and a special trek through South America in August. Their entire tour routing can be seen below.
