Angry Birds honors Iron Maiden with new Eddie character
Iron Maiden

Just in time for Halloween comes a heavy metal spin on a popular game. Iron Maiden has teamed up with Rovio to offer their mascot, Eddie, as a playable character in Angry Birds. Making his debut in the upcoming iteration of Angry Birds Evolution, Eddie will be streaking the Rovio universe very soon. As for how this unusual collaboration came to pass, Angry Birds Evolution Games and Product Leads VP Miika Tams said in a press release it just made sense for them.

Tams said, “Our team is filled with massive Iron Maiden fans and Eddie was both our first choice & a natural fit in Angry Birds Evolution. It’s about time his status as a true rock icon was celebrated and we know that fans will love seeing Eddie The Bird raise hell on Bird Island!”

Players can saddle up their  Evolution teams starting October 18 and this special event will run for two weeks. As a special bonus for those who manage to get Eddie on their team, they will get to keep him forever! Prepare to have “the most metal Halloween ever!” In addition to the possibility of keeping Eddie, players will enjoy four evolutions of Eddie the Bird and a new, more metal-themed Bird Island.

If you’d given up on Angry Birds, now might be the time to pick it back up again, if only just to say you got to hang with Eddie.
