The Arctic Monkeys have finally announced their new, highly anticipated studio album, the band's first since 2013’s AM. The new studio project will be titled Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, and is due out on May 11 via Domino Records. Arctic Monkeys announced the release on Tuesday morning with a short teaser video (see above) which also included a short sample of music that will presumably appear on one of the album’s new tracks.
The British rock outfit initially made headlines earlier this past winter when they appeared on the lineup poster for this year’s Firefly Music Festival in Delaware come mid-June. The band went on to revealed their European and North American touring plans for this summer, which includes a stop at Forest Hills Stadium in New York City and Detroit’s Masonic Temple Theatre. They’ll also make the trip to Chicago in early August for this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival.
Up until Thursday, news of Arctic Monkeys first studio album in five years had been kept under its closely wrapped packaging. They provided fans with a semi-album announcement late last month when it was revealed that their 2006 debut Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not LP will get a reissue in 180-gram multi-colored vinyl through Vinyl Me, Please. The vinyl subscription service had chosen it as their featured album of the month, as the package will also include an informative 16-page booklet provided by the company. Fans have until l April 15 to sign up for a Vinyl Me, Please subscription if they’d like to purchase a copy of the reissue.
Tickets for select shows on the Arctic Monkeys’ upcoming North American tour are on sale now, and can be purchased by clicking here. Fans can also click here to pre-order the album, which will come on an exclusive silver heavyweight vinyl.
