Art Garfunkel is hitting the road next year, and, all of a sudden, 2019 seems to look like a better year than the current year many are leaving behind.
Garfunkel, who is an undisputed pop culture icon, will embark on a limited world tour that many of his diehard fans have been salivating over. Starting in New Jersey on March 15, the Close Up tour will be a personal trip for the folk singer and will offer an intimate affair for all those in attendance.
For younger readers who haven’t brushed up on their history of the legendary artists, here’s a short backstory. Garfunkel began his career in 1956, and was a solo for a while until 1963 when he met Paul Simon and formed a duo named “Simon and Garfunkel.” The duo would go on to carve out their space in pop music lore but split in 1970 due to creative differences. The two still made some legendary music, and they reunited a few times to give fans a taste of the magic between the two.
Now, he performs solo, again, and though he hasn’t released any new material, he’s one of the rare artists who doesn’t have to, as his work stands on the merits of greatness.
