He says, “It would be fair to say that from the [Moving] Sidewalks standpoint all of us had come up with this Texas background,” said Gibbons, “and so much of it was this combination of country and western, but hardcore blues and R&B. There was no way around it. You got it.”
“I don’t know if there’s any exponent of Texana, but there is a thread that weaves it all together. My good friend Jimmie Vaughan, he and I have talked about it for hours and days on end. It may go back to the time when there was nothing else to do but sit on the porch and play a guitar. And with that much time on your hands, you got good.”
