Babymetal set to release band mythology in graphic novel, 'Apocrypha: The Legend of Babymetal'

The mystical veil that has shrouded the origins of Japanese pop-metal band Babymetal is about to disappear into the mists. The band’s insanely dedicated fanbase, dubbed “The One,” are undoubtedly excited about the release of a new graphic novel detailing the history of the band.

The synopsis of “Apocrypha: The Legend of Babymetal,” as printed by Loudwire, invites readers to “Discover the myth of the worldwide music sensation Babymetal. Tasked with defeating the forces of darkness and division, the metal spirits must travel through a variety of eras of time, assuming different forms and identities. What we are seeing is not the Babymetal of the present. It's the original story based on Babymetal you've never heard before. The long-hidden metal spirit’s Apocrypha of the Metal Resistance will emerge.”

Intrigued? You’re going to want to check out the graphic novel’s New York City Comic Con panel, which will be lead by illustrator GMB Chomichuk on October 4. “Apocrypha: The Legend of Babymetal” arrives on Oct. 30.

While “Apocrypha: The Legend of Babymetal” appears to be a big unveiling of Babymetal lore, it isn’t the first time Babymetal has revealed aspects of their mythological past. In 2013, the group shared “Babymetal Apocalypse,” a binder filled with pages released at a later date.
