Benjamin Booker releases single from new album, announces show at Rough Trade NYC

27-year-old Los Angeles-based guitar slinger and singer-songwriter Benjamin Booker will be rolling through New York City this summer. Booker will stop into Rough Trade NYC on Monday, June 5. Originally from New Orleans, Booker doles out devastating rock rooted in the blues but with punk power. Tickets for Booker’s show at Rough Trade NYC go on sale Friday, April 21 at noon ET. Booker’s latest single, “Right On You,” will appear on his forthcoming album, Witness. The record is slated for release June 2 and was inspired by recent social upheaval in America. But it took being away from the U.S. to give Booker a new frame of reference on some of the terrible things happening back home.

As The Fader reported, Booker was in Mexico City when reports of police brutality seemed to scream from the headlines constantly. It was enough to get Booker thinking, as he told The Fader, "Witness asks two questions I think every person in America needs to ask. 'Am I going to be a Witness?' and in today’s world, 'Is that enough?'" You can check out the Witness track “Right On You” above.
